Delete your account
Last updated: October 18, 2026
How to delete your Costia account, or only some of your data, in each Costia app: the steps, what is deleted, and what is kept and for how long. An app with a deletion page of its own is linked; the others are explained here.
App by app
Costia Ambrosia
- App
- Costia Ambrosia
- Developer
- javirub (Javier Rubio Roca)
You can delete your account in the app, or ask us to by email. Either way your Ambrosia data is deleted, and your whole Costia account with it when no other Costia app holds data of yours.
In the app
The app is in English and Spanish; the steps give its buttons in English.
- Open Costia Ambrosia, signed in to your account.
- Tap your avatar at the top of any tab to open “Home”.
- Under “Account”, tap “Delete account”.
- The screen says what will be deleted, and whether your whole Costia account goes with it. Type DELETE and tap “Delete permanently”.
It happens at once and cannot be undone. It does not cancel a subscription bought in the App Store or Google Play: cancel that in the store.
Without the app
Write to hello@costia.app from the address of your Costia account, with the subject “Costia Ambrosia: delete my account”. We delete it and reply to confirm, within a month at most.
What is deleted
- Every household nobody else belongs to, with everything in it and its history: menus, dishes and ratings, shopping lists, pantry and prices, the answers given while planning and the tastes learned from them, the diners with their allergies, intolerances, diet rules and health conditions, diets and plans, and the consents given in it.
- Your place in the households you share: you leave them. Your own diner, the one that is you, is deleted from every household, with its allergies, health conditions, diets, tastes and ratings. If you made a shared household, whoever has been in it longest takes it over.
- Your conversations with Ambrosia’s assistant and the requests its AI handled for you.
- The copy on the device you delete from, including anything not yet synced. Your other devices empty themselves the next time they connect.
- When no other Costia app holds data of yours, the Costia account itself: your email, name, password, Google and Apple sign-in and passkeys, with the suggestions you sent and the emails you wrote to us.
What is kept, and for how long
- The households you share stay with the people still in them, with what was planned there, no longer under your name, for as long as they keep them.
- Backups of our databases, kept only to recover from a failure, still hold what was deleted until they expire: they are kept for 30 days.
- Our servers’ technical logs are deleted after 14 days, and crash reports, which carry at most your account’s identifier, when they expire at Sentry.
- If you bought Costia Premium, Apple or Google keep the purchase under their own terms, as does RevenueCat, which tells Costia whether a subscription is active. Costia keeps the record of payments and of what the AI cost, with no email or name, for its bookkeeping.
- Counts that name no person and no household, such as how many searches were made, stay: they say nothing about you.
Your other Costia apps
You sign in to every Costia app with the same Costia account. If Ambrosia is the only one holding data of yours, deleting here deletes that account, for every app. If you also keep data in another Costia app, only your Ambrosia data is deleted and the account stays for that app; the screen names it before you confirm. To delete it there too, delete your account in that app as well, or write to us.
Deleting some data, keeping the account
You can also take things out one at a time:
- A dish of yours
- In “Dishes”, open it, tap “More options” (⋮) and then “Delete the dish”. A dish from the catalogue can only be hidden: “Don’t suggest it again”.
- A meal on the menu
- In “Menu”, tap the meal to change its dish, remove a side, starter or dessert, or choose “Nothing”.
- Something on the list
- In “Shopping”, press and hold it and tap “Remove from the list”. “Clear” takes away what you have ticked.
- A learned taste
- In “Home” → “What we have learned”, open it and tap “Forget”.
- A diet or a plan
- In “Home” → “How you eat”, choose “Our usual dishes”, or “Like the whole household” for one person. A diet or a plan taken little by little shows in “Home” with “End” and “Pause”.
- A household
- In “Home” → “Who eats and what they avoid”, tap “Leave this household”, in one that someone else made. You stop seeing it; what is in it stays with the others.
- Allergies, diet rules and health conditions
- In “Home” → “Who eats and what they avoid”, untick the consent under “Keep what you avoid in the household” and confirm “Withdraw and delete”. The whole household’s allergies, intolerances, diet and belief rules, health goals and health conditions are deleted from Costia’s servers at once, with the history entries that name them, and leave each device when it next syncs. Only the record of the consent stays: who gave it, when, and who withdrew it.
Except for withdrawing the consent, what you take out this way leaves the app on every device, but the household’s history keeps each change so it can be undone (“Menu” → “History”) until the household is deleted. To have something erased for good, history included, write to hello@costia.app.
